Important Urgent Community Update
The regularly scheduled Blowing Rock Town Council meeting is scheduled for
Tuesday April 14, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Town Hall, 1036 Main Street.
Among the agenda items is a closely followed presentation on the Laurel project.
This is the 7+ acre site on Main Street adjacent to Chetola.
You will see the Zoning signs along the street from Hill Street to Chetola's entrance.
The Laurel Proposed Project
Proposal includes an 85-room hotel, two restaurants, two parking garages, and meeting space. Of note is the proposed building setback from Main Street from 45 to 64 feet. Standard is 15 feet. Parking requires 108 spaces by code; they are proposing 301 spaces. Current maximum building height according to code of 35 feet. They are proposing a maximum building height of 46 feet 2 inches.
