Chuck Mantooth, CEO: Appalachian Regional Healthcare to Speak

Blowing Rock American Legion Bldg. June 13, 2023 @ 5:00 PM

Dear Residents and Visitors to Blowing Rock/ Watauga County,

On Tuesday, June 13th, at 5 PM at the American Legion Building in Blowing Rock, Chuck Mantooth, the CEO and President of Appalachian Regional Health Care will share information about our wonderful local hospital, much of which many people are not aware of.  Many changes have been made in recent years to significantly elevate the level of care that is available in Watauga County without having to travel to another town or to a larger health care center, and CEO Mantooth will share that information with his audience.

Also, he will talk about the benefits for Watauga County that will be realized as a result of ARHS’s having signed a management agreement with UNC Health.  Other hospitals that have been managed by UNC have seen tremendous additional resources added that have allowed their hospitals to provide state of the art care that rivals what one previously had to go to a large heath center to access.  To be a part of the UNC Health Care network provides a pipeline to steady improvements and shared wisdom and resources.  UNC Health is a statewide public health care system that consistently strives for excellence in care and research to find new treatment options.

Among the centers of excellence at ARHC are a 24/7 STEMI Center, a seasoned cancer treatment center, an orthopedic center with top level physicians, and a physician resident program that attracts many new physicians who stay to practice in Watauga County.

Evidence of recent advances were recognized when ARHC received an award of excellence from the National Leapfrog rating system that evaluates over 2,000 hospitals nationally twice a year.  They received a Top Rural Hospital Award, one of only 13 nationally out of the 2,200 hospitals.  They have also just received another “A” rating by Leapfrog for their patient safety and quality of care.

Please come and show your interest in and support for excellent health care in Watauga County.
